Summative Assessments Big Change, Student Tables & More Info, And More!
Hello Arbor users, Cara here from Swyft Education. We're back with another instalment in our Arbor Updates series, bringing you the latest features and improvements in the Arbor Management Information System (MIS). Let's jump right into it!
Assessments
Summative assessment setup has undergone a big change! You’ll no longer have that list of pre-named assessments, instead you’ll be taken straight into the step by step setup. Also you’ll no longer be able to bulk set up Foundation Stage Profile attainment (FSP) and Early Learning Goals (ELG) summative assessments.
What this means ultimately is a more hands on and tailored approach for your assessment set up, which will reduce things going wrong. If any of you have had to deal with that fall out you know how intensive the admin and repair can be!
Now this is only going to be when you first set up your summative assessments, you’ll still be able to carry over previous years assessments moving forward - meaning that initial outlay is well worth it!
As for Progress 8 for Key Stage 4 use (Years 10 & 11) this has been left unaffected at this time. We still highly recommend using Progress 8 for this Key Stage rather than summative assessments so that you don’t lose functionality!
If your not sure how to get the most out of Progress 8, get in touch and we’ll make sure you're getting all you need!
Student Data Tables & More Info
Great News! – that I want to shout about! You can now include unique identifiers when downloading student data from any table. I absolutely love this and can see it's going to help for a great many people.
Not sure what a unique identifier is in this case? That’s a student’s unique Arbor ID, Year Group, Registration Form, Unique Pupil Number (UPN) Unique Learner Number (ULN) and of course the Unique Candidate Identifier (UCI). All of these can now be added into your data when downloading!
To add these to your tables for download simply go to School / Data / Export / Export Options and away you go.
What Else is Occurring?
EDI Export Jobs Table – The table shows all candidates and now any differences between the Arbor data and the EDI file, including if there is a difference in the UCI. These will be highlighted in red, instantly giving you a recognisable visual for if there are any pesky issues that need resolving!
iOS Functionality – Whilst previously available on Android, Arbor have now brought the back button to iOS. Great to have these standardised between the two and removes that frustration for iOS users. Well done Arbor!
Time Tabler Import Process – This has been improved for staff and NTAs with it now being impossible to import more than one file at once. This should reduce doubling up risks.
Note: if you have come to Time Tabler from Nova-T you may know them as NCCs (non-class codes) or duties.
Renaming – And finally, Arbor have renamed the Separate Invigilation Access Arrangement to Alternative Rooming Arrangements.
There we have it with this roundup of updates, some great things coming out that are sure to make our lives easier and improve Arbor moving forward.
Watch this space for more updates, and as always we are here to help!
